Structured Wiring

Structured wiring allows you to deliver any service to any room: internet, telephone, fax, cable TV, satellite, audio, security cameras, even in-home local area networks.

The cables for telephone and computer services are Category-5e rated, unshielded twisted pair (UTP) wire. These cables are capable of transmitting data at very high speeds - one gigabit per second. The video cables are RG-6 quad shield coax cable. These are capable of handling the needs of cable TV, satellite TV, or closed circuit TV.

All cables are home run back to the distribution box. This is where the inside wiring meets the outside services such as telephone and cable TV.

A well designed system will allow you to plug in your laptop anywhere in your home, see who is at the front door, watch satellite TV in any room, or watch the baby's room from any TV in the house. You can set up your own computer network, and even allow multiple users on line at the same time, with only one internet account.

If you are building or remodeling, make sure your investment is not obsolete. Existing homes can also be easily converted to take advantage of this technology.

Drops are the communication outlets and cabling located throughout the house for telephones, computers, video connections, and other devices. Each drop consists of a wall plate with phone, computer or video jacks and one or more cables that run from the wall plate to the panel.   Feeds are the services brought into the house for telephone, cable TV, air antenna, satellite dish, etc. A feed consists of one or more cables run from the service to the panel.   System equipment can include telephone key systems, door intercoms, video distribution panels, computer local area networks (LAN), as well as security, and other control systems. Systems are also cabled to the panel.   The Panel, is where all the services, systems and cabling from the communications outlets meet. The Panel provides the "housing" for these connections so that the services can be easily distributed throughout the house.
